Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a technique in which thin needles are inserted just below the skin into muscles, nerves or joints. The needles can be stimulated manually or with electricity (hooked up to a TENS machine) for the therapeutic purpose of reducing pain and relaxing muscles.
